Unlimited book budget for kids. Good life lesson or bad?

So Charlie’s been spending $10-$15 a week on books for the past few months… but this week Ian got in on the action and together they spent $35 this week. If this was summertime, I’d tell them to bike up the to the library and save the money… BUT it’s winter, so I’m just enabling it. I’m sure this isn’t the *best* financial lesson to be teaching them because at some point they’re going to be poor college kids and $35 a week in books is $2,000 a year.

But right now I’m OK with it. I asked Ian to keep his per-book cost under $7 and they’re going to town…
